Margaret’s Landing

Searching for a quiet place to stay in southeast Ohio? Check out Margaret’s Landing, a comfortable cozy airbnb, located on site at Wabi and just a few miles and minutes from downtown Athens and Ohio University.  There are many fun local activities that may inspire you to visit this unique little college town such as Brew Week, Boogie on the Bricks, the International Quilt Show, the Nelsonville Music Festival, the Fur Peace Ranch and hiking the Hocking Hills.  Enjoy the treasures in these hills of southeast Ohio.

This peaceful wooded setting is bordered by Margaret’s Creek, named after Margaret Hanning Snowden.  She was 22 in 1796 when she became the first settler to step upon its banks.  We honor this adventurous pioneer woman in the history of Athens county and are grateful for its many gifts.

Here you’ll find an opportunity to relax in a comfortable simple environment filled with healing plants, beautiful song birds and wild critters.  You are likely to see red headed woodpeckers, cardinals and hummingbirds and maybe a few squirrels and chipmunks.  If you’re lucky you may catch sight of a blue heron, ducks or Canadian geese and maybe a deer grazing on the apple tree.

Enjoy the view from the back deck where a gas grill makes dinner even more special. Sit on the front porch for a sunrise view or maybe even a rainbow. The creek can change quickly with a down pour which is always fun to observe.  This setting provides a quiet escape for contemplation or a perfect spot for gathering friends and family for socializing and good old fashioned fun like board games, cards, dominoes, puzzles, croquet, basketball and ping pong.

During your stay you can schedule inspiring sessions with host, Cindy Parker.  She is a people person who loves interacting with others if they wish but if you prefer your privacy, she will respectfully leave you alone and honor your space.  She offers educational consultations, presentations, and hands on workshops on a variety of topics for guests who are interested in healing plants and sustainable living.

Margaret’s Landing is located just minutes from Athens and Ohio University where there is a stimulating local culture of music, fine dining, breweries, movies, unique shops, bike trails, the Kennedy museum, lectures, the dairy barn art center and one of the best farmer’s markets in Ohio.

The house provides all the amenities of home. It is on ground level with plenty of convenient parking.  The kitchen is well stocked with small appliances, dishes and cooking utensils.  Coffee, tea and spices are available for guests to use with additional space for storing groceries and drinks.  Furnishings are simple and cozy with lots of green plants to beautify the space and keep the air fresh and clean.
